| Note: | |
| 1. | It is considered appropriate to acknowledge those who have 'hosted the reception'. |
| This usually includes those who have also contributed to the cost of the ceremony. | |
| 2. | It may also be considered appropriate to acknowledge both sets of parents, whether |
| or not they have contributed to the wedding ceremony or the reception. | |
| 3. | The surnames of both the bride and the groom should be mentioned (i) if both sets of |
| parents are hosting the reception; (ii) if both their surnames differ from that/those of | |
| the person/s issuing the invitation; and (iii) in the case of a double wedding | |
| when the brides are not sisters. | |
| 4. | If the wedding ceremony is (or includes) a religious one, use 'request the honour of your presence'. |
| If it is a civil one, use 'request the pleasure of your company'. | |
| 5. | RSVP cards and self-addressed envelopes may be included with the invitations |
| when they are mailed out. It is becoming increasingly acceptable to permit | |
| invited guests to respond via email or telephone, in which case include a return email | |
| address and/or telephone number below the RSVP address. Whether receiving RSVP's by | |
| mail, email or telephone, remember to request the number of guests who will be attending. | |
